'Tis the Season
Samantha's year was coming to a close.
She counted her blessings from the past year.
Lovers kissing under mistletoe.
She holds her beloved Luke near and dear.
Before she could blink, Christmas rush was on.
Busily preparing from dusk 'til dawn.

String the lights, send the cards, wrap the presents.
Plenty to do before the main event.
Trim the evergreen, hang the ornaments.
Spread the word–Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.
A caroler's treat, to join a chorus.
Nutcracker Suite plays merrily for us.

Kith and kin gather, bringing warmth and glee.
Wearing festive attire for all to see.
Cousin Sarah brought her whole family.
They all help Grandma frost cut-out cookies.
More than presents waiting to be unwrapped,
We want to have each other's hands to clasp.

Young hearts watch Romeo Muller classics.
Adults swig egg nog and warm winter brews,
Appetizers with cellophaned toothpicks.
The mysteries of the season ring true,
Playing reindeer games and other antics,
Surprises hidden up in the attic.

Youthful belief gives us reason to pause.
To answer a child, our better selves swear,
"Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."
Recall Mary Mild and strive to be fair.
Little Theresa, thru four-year-old eyes,
Tries to spy Santa in the late night skies.

Christmas Eve dreams of dancing sugar plums.
Kitchen scents herald holiday dinner.
Bakers bustle to get the cooking done.
(Come New Year, we won't be any thinner!)
Angels sing when we remember to pray,
And thank the Lord, celebrating his day.

Raise a cup to Peace and Holiday Cheer,
To return from whence you came, Yule click
